Jordan and Iraq on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding to execute a project to install a railway linking the two countries [Üye Olmadan Linkleri Göremezsiniz. Üye Olmak için TIKLAYIN...], the state-run Petra news agency reported.
The memo, signed by Jordan's Transport Minister Muhannad Qudah and his Iraqi counterpart Hadi Al Ameri, aims to enhance the flow of passengers and commodities between the two countries.
The railway, Qudah said [Üye Olmadan Linkleri Göremezsiniz. Üye Olmak için TIKLAYIN...], will link the southern city of Aqaba with Baghdad [Üye Olmadan Linkleri Göremezsiniz. Üye Olmak için TIKLAYIN...], adding that designs and studies for the project are prepared.
The two sides also agreed to form a committee to determine the stops for the railway, said Qudah, stressing the importance of the project.
The Iraqi minister said the project is vital for the two countries and the trade between them.
